'L.I.F.E. in Bits' now available in our online store!

'L.I.F.E in Bits' is now available in our online store as CD, full text of the libretto and the full orchestral score.

The Opera was written in response a viewing of 'Venus and Adonis' by John Blow written before Purcell.
But the comparison with John Blow's masque stops with the same amount of singers. Eight popular voices, 4 males and 4 female ones, and 4 classical trained voices is all that is needed to perform the Opera. The Opera was called in its first performed version Venus and Adonis, as was John Blow's Opera, but the setting was already entirely modern with many styles of music and dance elements.
The Orchestra part is avaiable in its entire 2 hours as a sound track.

Written in 2001 the Opera was in many ways ahead of its time. It was written in the same year the Matrix came out, but already dealt with a Virtual Reality world which was offered to Jay with his 4 friends, while they were having a good time in a Pub.

For Jay that was not an issue, he had Judith, of whose love he was convinced. But the friends were open to give the wonderworld of the dark cupid, Sebastian - a counter tenor - a try.

In the end Sebastian challenges Jay to try his wonderworld also, if only to test his love for Judith. Upon entering the Virtual world Jay then meets Venus, the female goddess of cyberspace in the form of an idealized digital Judith. The encounter is enough to pull Jay off his feet.

But he remains strong in his love for the real Judith and Venus challenges him for a Quest. A Quest to kill the bear.

When Sebastian later at night appears to Jay again, he has no choice but to take up the challenge, which he does by bringen the Digital Source to its uttermost limits. Wounded by the Bear Jay dies.

In the meantime the friends are trying the world of Sebastian and the audience can have some food for thought in their comical, but sometimes fullfilling experiences....

Sony Brings Real Life Matrix A Step Closer Sets precedent for future artificial utopias constructed to escape hellhole of real world

Thursday, March 8, 2007

Sony is preparing to unveil a simulated reality world in which Playstation gamers can create a new life for themselves, complete with their own apartment, friends, movies, shopping and entertainment, bringing the reality of an actual matrix a step closer.

"Sony has unveiled plans for its own virtual universe for the PlayStation 3 where users will be able to socialise, shop and even go to the movies -- all without setting foot outside in the real world. The service -- a kind of MySpace meets Linden Lab's Second Life meets the video-sharing site YouTube -- will become available for PS3 users worldwide in late 2007, Sony announced in a statement available here Thursday," reports AFP.

The concept of simulated reality is understood to mean a computer generated world that is almost indistinguishable from reality. Though Sony's "Home" service is at its foundation just a souped up interactive entertainment platform, the technology to in effect step inside the screen, similar to a virtual reality experience, is close at hand.
