1 Introduction to Music Theory: note names


When we look at the keyboard we see a pattern of two and three black keys with white keys in between them. Each white key has the name of a letter of the alphabet from A to G. We can find the C on the left side of the two black keys.

 

 

Using a stave with a treble clef we now can find the G on the keyboard to the right of the middle C. In the same way we can find the F indicated by the bass clef, to the left of the middle C. Using the spaces and the lines we now are easily able to name each note and to find it on the keyboard as well as on the stave.
